Carmen Wageman
When Carmen isn’t conquering the Pyrenees or French Alps on her bike, she’s passionately growing her design business. With a love for adventure, design, and entrepreneurship, she has spent over 22 years building Toronto’s largest staging company. In 2024, she and her daughter, Jessica Steinman, launched Stage Right Rentals, Toronto’s first high-end furniture rental service.
Through her collaboration with real estate agents, Carmen identified a need for a one-stop destination for agents and their clients. This vision led to The Hive Society, a trade-exclusive store offering everything from doormats to lighting, along with thoughtful closing gifts. All these businesses thrive under one roof in their expansive 50,000 sq/ft facility. Carmen lives just north of Toronto with her cycling partner and husband Drew, youngest daughter Caitlin, and Max the wonderdog.
Jessica Steinman
Hive Society, led by COO Jessica Steinman, is renowned for its quality and customer-centric approach. Jessica, daughter of founder Carmen, ensures exceptional service, precise accounting, and efficient scheduling.
With nearly a decade of experience in the real estate industry, Jessica understands the impact of beautifully furnished homes on sales. Her expertise makes Hive Society a trusted partner for agents and homeowners, consistently exceeding expectations.
Jessica’s leadership is defined by excellence, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer satisfaction. She promotes innovation and teamwork, driving the company’s success.
Outside of work, Jessica is an avid reader, enjoying three books a month. She lives near Lake Simcoe with her husband Aaron and their dog Bella, embodying the curiosity and dedication that define Hive Society.

Laura Stansfield
Laura is a senior stager and manager of the design department at Stage Right, a position she has held since 2021. With a background in museum curation and a deep love of history, Laura’s design philosophy is centered on creating spaces that are filled with unique and meaningful pieces—each reflecting the owner’s unique story. Drawing from her extensive travels, she blends a mix of classic and eclectic styles to craft spaces that are not only visually striking but also deeply functional and intuitive.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in History and Classics from Concordia University, Laura went on to study interior design at Toronto Metropolitan University. Since joining Stage Right, Laura has been dedicated to bringing Toronto clients distinctive, impactful designs that balance form and function. Her work is focused on delivering a personalized, thoughtful design experience, ensuring that each project is a true reflection of the client’s lifestyle and aesthetic.
Laura currently lives in the west end of Toronto with her husband, Ian, and their adopted street cat, Zuko.
Bella
Five-year-old Bella, a lively mini Australian Shepherd, has been part of Jessica Steinman’s family since she was a puppy. With her boundless energy and sharp intelligence, Bella keeps everyone on their toes, showing off her herding skills and learning new tricks in no time. She’s also Max’s best friend, and the two are inseparable, playing endlessly together. Bella’s playful and clever personality makes her the heart of the action, ensuring there’s never a dull moment.

Max
Seven-year-old Max, our lovable doodle extraordinaire, joined Carmen Wageman’s family five years ago after being surrendered by his previous owner. Since then, he’s become the perfect addition to the family and a beloved presence at work. Max accompanies Carmen to the office most days, charming everyone with his playful antics and his uncanny ability to convince staff and guests alike that he desperately needs a treat (despite being very well fed at home). Adored by all, Max is truly the heart of the team.
